From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Theatre (or theater, see spelling differences) is a branch of the performing arts. While any performance may be considered theatre, as a performing art, it focuses almost exclusively on live performers creating a self contained drama. A performance qualifies as dramatic by creating a representational illusion. By this broad definition, theatre had existed since the dawn of man, as a result of the human tendency for storytelling. Since its inception, theatre has come to take on many forms, utilizing speech, gesture, music, dance, and spectacle, combining the other performing arts, often as well as the visual arts, into a single artistic form. The word derives from the Ancient Greek theatron (θέατρον) meaning "the seeing place." From Wikipedia under the

Make them ask what jobs the parents did when they were young. Which jobs were best and which were worst. This would not need a lot of practice; it is mostly "improvisation". But you could have 3 of them onstage together. If one is the worker at the McDonald's , the other 2 are "customers".. Answered by Ed Atun - Mon Oct 13 12:00:17 2008 What are some musical theatre songs suited for beginner singers? Q. I am looking for musical theatre songs that i would be able to learn. I have been singing in school choirs for many years but that is as far as my vocal training goes. Thanku. Asked by Lois - Fri Apr 10 20:39:09 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. All musical theater songs are pretty easy. As far as vocal range and how hard they are to memorize they aren't hard at all. Popular songs are not tough with vocal range at least. If you want an OLD musical theater song they get tougher. I never did chorus (up until 8th grade) and in 7th I auditioned for a part in the school musical with Mr. Cellophane and got a role. I never sang or read music before. I find musicals catchy and fun so maybe its just me but I dont think you should have trouble singing one. There is no technical distinction between the meanings of the two spellings, however most theatre artists prefer the English spelling because it creates a historical nod to the ancient Greek term theatron. Some also use the American spelling to designate a theatre building and the English term to reference the art itself, as in the "art of theatre." Theatre is that branch of the performing arts concerned with the creation of stories or narratives for (or with) an audience using combinations of acting, speech, gesture, music, dance, object manipulation, sound and spectacle — indeed, any one or more elements of the other performing arts. In addition to standard narrative dialogue style, theatre takes such forms as opera, musicals, ballet, mime, kabuki, classical Indian dance, Chinese opera, mummers' plays, and pantomime.
