Canada (pronounced /ˈkænədə/) is a country occupying most of upper North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area and shares the world's longest common border with the United States to the south and northwest. The land occupied by Canada was inhabited for millennia by various groups of aboriginal people. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored, and later settled along, the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada was formed as a federal dominion of four provinces. This began an accretion of additional provinces and territories and a process of increasing autonomy from the United Kingdom, highlighted by the Statute of Westminster in 1931 and culminating in the Canada Act in 1982, which severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament. A federation comprising ten provinces and three territories, Canada is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a bilingual and multicultural country, with both English and French as official languages both at the federal level and in the province of New Brunswick. Technologically advanced and industrialized, Canada maintains a diversified economy that is heavily reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade—particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. It is a member of the G8, NATO, OECD, WTO, the Commonwealth of Nations, the Francophonie, the OAS, APEC, and the United Nations. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I am Canadian and planning to return back home to Canada in 2 to 3 years. In my absence, can I apply to petition a caregiver while I am a non resident pending my return to Canada? Asked by South Canadian - Thu Apr 2 20:27:41 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. NO the caregiver MUST be living in Canada WITH the family - the family MUST be in Canada when they apply. The caregiver will live in and work for you for 2 years. Once that 2 years is complete they can apply for PR status and get their caregiver work permit changed to an open permit, so they can work for whomever they choose. Is it hard to emigrate to Canada? I am British and was wondering if I could I get a transfer from the RAF to the Canadian Air force? Asked by NONAME - Mon Dec 17 12:22:19 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Your questions aren't that easy to answer, but here goes -- but first a caveat. After living for years in the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba (much of that as an air force brat), I now live in Victoria, British Columbia, and am wickedly biased. The B.C. coast is simply glorious. Overall, the warmest part of Canada is southern Vancouver Island and B.C.'s lower mainland, including Vancouver. But we rarely get really hot here. For sustained hot summer temperatures, where you can sit in shirtsleeves at midnight, you'd have to move somewhere on the line from Montreal and Kingston to Toronto and Windsor. Enjoyment is, of course, subjective. Do you like big-city life? Do you feel most alive in the natural environment?
