Casting is a manufacturing process by which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold, which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape, and then allowed to solidify. The solidified part is also known as a casting, which is ejected or broken out of the mold to complete the process. Casting materials are usually metals or various cold setting materials that cure after mixing two or more components together; examples are epoxy, concrete, plaster and clay. Casting is most often used for making complex shapes that would be otherwise difficult or uneconomical to make by other methods. Casting is a 6000 year old process. The oldest surviving casting is a copper frog from 3200 BC. TypesMetalMain article: Casting (metalworking)Metal casting is the most common casting process. From Wikipedia under the

Answered by em[ily] - Wed Sep 5 16:37:03 2007 How do you start a casting company? Q. I want to start a casting company in South Florida. I will do casting for various television projects. Does anyone know what kind of state and/or national certification is needed for such a thing? The state of Florida Web sites and phone lines have been fairly unhelpful and I get the sense that they are just over whelmed with other issues (?) I will not go to the SBA, either. This is not an issue of seeking start-up funding and, barring that, you cannot go to them. It s not their area. Does anyone know what is needed to start such a venture? Thank you so much for your information and/or advice. Asked by Florida w/ Questions - Mon Jul 23 09:09:52 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You are right that the SBA itself is not the right place for business start-up questions but they have a volunteer group of business consultants that offer free advice/consulting. Go to and find your local chapter, they should'nt give you the run-around. On another note, you are not retailing so you don't need a sales tax number. I would register as a DBA with your county. For any more, check SCORE out. Thanks. Answered by Esmeralda - Tue Jul 24 12:51:19 2007 What is the best casting rod for steelhead and salmon?
Q. I live in Washington and need to pick up a casting rod for steelhead this winter. I bought a nice Shimano Tekota reel, the 500LC. I'll be using it out on my drift boat mainly. Asked by Jon L - Wed Oct 4 12:01:38 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Stick with All Star, Fenwick or G-Loomis like this 9'9" heavy action with a long handle for extra leverage and balance. Since you are fishing from a boat, you might even consider a 10'6" model good for 2-8 oz baits and 10-40 lb test. Best of luck to you!
