It takes place during the 1980's miner strike in England. It's about a young boy, whose father want him to be a boxer but Billy falls in love with ballet dancing and finds a teacher who truly believes in him and trains him for an audition for the Royal Ballet Theater. It's about his father learning to accept him and Billy accepting himself. It really is a wonderful, uplifting, beautiful musical. I would highly reccomend it.
